What is the best hotel to stay at in London?

I have never been to London before, so I would like to stay in a great hotel in a great location. Nothing too expensive (over 400 per night) but nothing cheap.

Well for that price you won't get the best. Try the Thistle group, they have some great deals & hotels in good positions. If you had a bit more, The Ritz Or The Savoy. Go to the Ritz for High tea and The Savoy Grill for Dinner. You can enjoy the best public Hotels in London by just using the bar.
Try the Ritz or Claridges.
