a friend of mine is travelling round the world in the autumn?

where are the must-see places in australia and south east asia? if you have travelled round the world for a year or however long, what tips or advice would you give?

Answers:
Pack light. When you have to carry everything you will appreciate that you have done this. Just a couple of trousers / shorts / skirts and heaps of tops.
Must see places in Oz in not particular order:
Cairns - Daintree Rainforest, Port Douglas, Great Barrier Reef
Gold Coast - beautfiul beaches, beautiful people, great nightlife, awesome theme parks, stunning natural beauty in the hinterland
Sydney - because you can't miss it!
Melbourne - as above
Tasmania - natural beauty
Western Australia - natural beauty
Ayers Rock - for the sunrises and sunsets over the biggest and most beautiful rock
Adelaide - wineries and churches
Even better, drive the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Adelaide.

Now to Asia - everywhere you can possibly afford - Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore.
