Jimmy Angel, an adveture pilot fromMissouri. He used to fly for the aerial circus that Lindbergh had. His full name was James Crawford Angel and he became a modern legend. He saw the falls for the first time in 1933 with McCracken while looking for gold.
He returned in 1937 with his wife and 2 other people and landed on top of the Auyantepuy (where the water falls from). The plane got stuck there in the mud which was rescued 33 years later by a chopper.
James Angel and his party made it down the Auyantepuy and returned to civilization 11 days later. His plane is for display in the Aviation Museum in the city of Maracay in Venezuela and a copy is in display on top of the Tepuy.
Jimmy Angel. The best time of the year to see the falls, which are shrouded in fog most of the time, is in January and February.
